This is an 8* BLOWOUT on LSU.

Some times a favorite is a favorite for a reason and in this case, I think that LSU's balance on both sides of the ball will prove to be too much for the Fighting Irish and expect the Tigers to pull away down the stretch for the comfortable ATS cover. LSU would open with a win over eventual Big Ten runner-up Wisconsin and was on top of the world at 3-0 after back-to-back shutouts, but the Tigers would then stumble during SEC West play. Notre Dame can empathize though, it started the season 6-0, before then going 1-5 the rest of the way, the Irish's defense was shredded and exposed. Despite some lapses throughout the season, LSU led the nation in defensive pass efficiency at 98.7, highlighted by a unit which ranked fourth in passing yards allowed and eighth in total yards. The Tigers are also Bowl savvy, this is the schools 15th straight appearance, coach Les Miles is 6-3 for his career with the team: "There's a tradition and a culture here we've kind of established and the young men that come here really enjoy stepping into this room and being a part of that culture," Miles said. "It's interesting too, you hate to say good-bye, we said good-bye to 22 seniors at the banquet and they're a quality group of men. To think the team, they talk about their time here, and what they don't realize is they impact the people here." The offense was a weak point for the Tigers, but with more than a month off to prepare for this game I think that QB Anthony Jennings will be able to take advantage of this porous Notre Dame secondary. One other player to keep your eyes on is RB Leonard Fournette who finished with 891 yards and eight TD's. Offensively the Irish are decent, QB Everett Golson put up 3,355 yards and 29 TD's, but note that he was also picked off 14 times and committed 22 turnovers overall. And note, Golson won't even be starting this game as coach Brian Kelly announced that Malik Zaire will get his first collegiate start. But as mentioned many times already, Notre Dame is simply atrocious defensively, the unit was destroyed for 291 points in the final seven games. Enough said. Play on LSU.
