I have always maintained that I would gladly lay -500 odds if I thought the line should in fact be -800 and that's the case with this selection, I think the home side comes in focused here and finds a way to get the job done at the end of the night. To say this is a "revenge" game would be a bit of an understatement I think as Dallas has taken the last six straight in the series. Before losing 3-1 to the Rangers on Wednesday, the Capitals had won three of their previous four games. Note that Dallas led 3-0 in the first meeting between the teams on January 17th and would then have to hold on for the eventual 5-4 victory. The Stars have won four of five but I think will come in with "heavy legs" after last night's 5-3 win over Carolina. These teams have for the most part been getting pretty good goaltending of late, so I'll call that department a wash, but note that Dallas is a poor 2-7 (-3.6 units) this season when playing on back-to-back days, while Washington is 5-3 (+2.5 units) after a loss by two goals or more in its previous contest and 7-4 (+4.1 units) after scoring one goal or less in its previous game. In my opinion, this sets up as a classic letdown spot for Dallas, making the CAPITALS worth the price of admission tonight.
