Total: 219.00 | -110.00 Over
Result: Loss
This is a 10* TOTAL EXPRESS on the UNDER between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the LA Lakers.
We don't subscribe to any single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account numerous different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. One set of criteria which we always use when making our decisions are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics.
This particular play is based on a few different factors:
As note that Minnesota has seen the total go UNDER the number in three of its last four after three or more consecutive losses, while LA has seen the total go UNDER in four of five this year afte allowing 130 points or more and in 14 of 25 following a loss by ten points or more.
The bottom line: Both teams are going to miss the playoffs, so each is playing out the tail end of disappointing seasons. The Wolves have dropped four in a row and are now five games behind the Nuggets for the eighth playoff spot in the West. At this point the Lakers are trying to lose as many as possible so as to keep their No. 1 draft pick alive. Winning at this point is not a priority whatsoever for LA. We're expecting these two disinterested clubs to go through the motions in this meaningless contest and for the total to sneak UNDER the number once it's all said and done.
