This is a 5* play on the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Jays managed a 6-5 victory in the opener of this interleague series yesterday, but we think that the home side will find a way to get the job done at the end of the night Wednesday.
Mat Latos: He's 0-0 with a 7.20 ERA thus far. He most recently was shelled for four runs off six hits and three walks while striking out just one over five innings in a fortunate no-decision against the Angels on Friday. With JA Happ still on in the IL, Latos will continue to see starts.
Carlos Martinez: He's 0-3 with a 4.76 ERA to open the season. Last year he was 16-9 with a 3.04 ERA. He's coming off his first loss of the year, done in by a couple of dingers. "Tsunami" had a great opener, but has since struggled. We think Martinez can bounce back today though.
The bottom line: Note that Martinez was 10-5 with a 2.93 ERA in all "night" games last year. Also note that Toronto is already 0-5 (-5.2 units) this season following a victory, while St. Louis is 3-1 (+1.6 units) against clubs with losing records this year. Lay the price with confidence, play on the CARDINALS.
