Total: 8.50 | 100.00 Under
Result: Loss
This is a 10* TOTAL ASSASSIN on the OVER between the Philadelphia Phillies and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Both of these struggling starters have seen better days. All signs point to a slugfest on Friday night:
Jeremey Hellickson: He's 5-3 with a 4.50 ERA. Hellickson most recently was rocked for five runs off four hits over 5.1 innings in a loss to the Giants on Sunday. After a promising start to the season, Hellickson has regressed big time, going 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA and 17:16 K:BB in 36 innings spanning his last seven starts. Note that Hellickson has been a disasater on the road this season as well, going 2-4 with a 10.27 ERA.
Michael Wacha: He's 2-3 with a 4.67 ERA. Wacha most recently was shelled for six runs off six hits and four walks over four innings in a fortunate no-decision against the Cubs on Sunday. Like his counterpart, Wacha started the 2017 campaign on fire, but he's also cooled off tremendously, going 0-2 with a ballooned 11.91 ERA over his last three starts. Note that he's 0-3 with a 6.11 ERA in all "night" games this year.
The bottom line: Note that Philadelphia has seen the total go OVER the number in 24 of 40 against right-handed starters this year, while St. Louis has seen the total go OVER in 26 of 42 in the same position this season. Play the OVER.
