We think this one favors the lefty Drew Pomeranz and the hard-hitting Red Sox:
Pomeranz: He's 6-4 with a 4.48 ERA. Pomeranz comes in off an outing to forget in which he allowed six runs off eight hits and two walks while striking out two over 4.1 innings in an 8-3 loss to Detroit on Sunday. The dud ended a three-game streak of quality outings. Note that he's 2-2 with a respectable 3.91 ERA on the road thus far.
Mike Fiers: He's 4-2 with a 4.29 ERA. Fiers comes in off a good start against the Angels on Saturday, giving up one unearned run off two hits over seven innings. Fiers has looked better of late after a shaky start to the 2017 campaign, note though that he still owns an unimpressive 5.01 ERA in all "night" contests this year.
The bottom line: We think Pomeranz bounces back and we're expecting Fiers to finally have a letdown here. Great value, play on the RED SOX.
