Parker Bridwell's peripherpals suggest that rockier times are ahead and he's getting the job done with smoke and mirrors. Ariel Miranda has been a complete train-wreck of late and continues to be plagued by the long-ball. In our opinion, all signs point to a "slug-fest" in this one.
Bridwell: He's 6-1 with a 3.00 ERA. Bridwell most recently gave up one run over seven innings in a 6-1 win over Baltimore on Tuesday. In his previous outing Bridwell had been rocked for four runs over five innings in a loss to the Phillies. Bridwell's poor 5.7 K/9, 82.6 percent strand rate and 4.72 FIP all point to a monster regression on the horizon.
Miranda: He's 7-5 with a 4.65 ERA. Miranda was most recently shelled for six runs off five hits over five innings against the A's on Tuesday. So far Miranda has allowed 29 home runs this season and note that he's just 2-3 with a 4.86 ERA in all "day" games this year.
The bottom line: Note that LA has seen the total go OVER the number in 20 of 35 against southpaws this year, while Seattle has seen the total go OVER the number in ten of 17 home games when the total in the contest is set between 9 and 9.5. Play the OVER.
