This is an 8* O/U SUPER-BLOWOUT on the OVER between Kentucky and South Carolina.
Kentucky is coming off a 27-16 home win over Eastern Kentucky, while South Carolina cruised to a 31-13 road victory over Missouri last time out. When these teams met last year, it was a defensive affair with the Wildcats coming out on top 17-10. However, we believe the situation today points to a higher-scoring shootout.
Kentucky: The Wildcats actually trailed at halftime last week before then recovering for the victory. Kentucky looked like it was "looking ahead" to this conference contest, so we can expect it to come out much more focused right from the start. QB Stephen Johnson was 15 of 22 for 224 yards, one touchdown and no INT's. RB Benny Snell Jr. had 103 yards rushing. The defense looked solid, allowing just 62 rushing yards and 256 total yards. Clearly however that unit faces a much stiffer test this evening.
South Carolina: QB Jake Bentley was 18 of 28 for 187 yards and a TD last week for the Gamecocks. RB Ty'Son Williams had 79 yards on 14 carries. The defense was also a strong point, holding Missouri to 423 yards, but making a couple of key turnovers that turned into offensive points.
The bottom line: Note that Kentucky has seen the total go OVER the number in four of its last five games played on a grass field, while South Carolina has seen the total go OVER the number in two of its last three after scoring 30 points or more in its previous game. This number is just a little low, play the OVER.
