As note that New York has seen the total go UNDER the number in 45 of its last 86 against teams with winning records, while Pittsburgh has seen the total go UNDER in five of eight home games already this year when the total in the contest is set at 6 or higher.
The bottom line: The Pens had their four-game win streak snapped in a 4-3 loss to the Rangers most recently, while New York enters off 6-2 loss in Tampa Bay, one night after winning 5-4 in a shootout in Florida. Both teams have been playing to some higher-scoring affairs of late, but we think the value has swung the other way tonight. With each coming off a high-scoring loss, we expect both to put an added emphasis on the defensive end of the ice this evening. So with both teams game-planning on a more defensive affair this evening, this number is indeed a little high. Play the UNDER.
