This is a 10* O/U EAST COAST EXPRESS on the OVER between the Miami Heat and the Charlotte Hornets.
We don't subscribe to any single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account numerous different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. One set of criteria which we always use when making our decisions are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics.
This particular play is based primarily on strong/relevant O/U ATS statistics and common sense:
As note that Miami has seen the total go OVER the number in 18 of its last 30 off an upset loss as favorite (including having seen it go OVER in two of three this season) and in 18 of 30 after playing to three or more consecutive UNDERS (including in two of three this year), while Charlotte has seen the total go OVER the number in five of six already this season off a loss of ten points or more and in eight of 13 when playing the role of favorite.
The bottom line: Miami had its two game win streak snapped in a listless 102-95 loss to Portland at home last time out, while Charlotte comes in having lost eight of its last ten, most recently a 108-96 setback at Houston. When these teams met on December 1st, the total stayed UNDER the number in the Heat's 105-100 victory, but we now feel that the conditions are right for a much more wide open affair between these two hungry teams. Play on the OVER.
