This is an 8* "TOTAL SLUGFEST" on the OVER between the San Francisco Giants and the Miami Marlins.

Both Tim Hudson and Henderson Alvarez jumped out to fantastic starts to the season, but each stumbled down the stretch (Hudson in particular); both are also coming off very poor outings in their final starts before the break. I think the oddsmakers are slow to react and expect this total to eclipse the number as the game comes down the stretch. Hudson (7-6, 2.87 ERA) was shelled for six earned runs on nine hits over 5 1/3's innings in a setback to the A's on Thursday. The home side counters with Alvarez (6-4, 2.63 ERA) who was roughed up by the Mets on Friday, giving up six runs off eight hits over five frames in the setback. Recent performance plays a big part in my handicapping repertoire, I think the writing is on the wall and look for these starters to get chased early; play on the OVER.
