Money Line: 101.00 LA Dodgers (Away)
Result: Win
This is a 6* SITUATIONAL PITCHING MISMATCH on the LA Dodgers.
In my opinion, we're getting fantastic line value on the superior starter and by far the "hotter" overall team. A great situational play. San Francisco sends newly acquired hurler Jake Peavy (1-9, 4.72 ERA) to the hill. Peavy has been brutal this year and I don't expect a change in venue to be a sudden catalyst to turn the veteran's season around. Unfortunately for Peavy, the Giants are hitting a palrty .158 while scoring two runs during a three-game losing streak including yesterday's lacklustre 5-0 setback. Peavy has had some success against the Dodgers in the past, but that was then and this is now. The visitors counter with Hyun-jin Ryu (11-5, 3.39 ERA) who has won three straight starts at AT&T Park behind a minuscule 1.31 ERA. Most recently the southpaw gave up four hits over seven scoreless frames in a 2-1 win there back on April 17th; note that he's 7-2 with a very respectable 2.73 ERA in ten road games this year. Ryu would dominate in his last start in giving up two runs over seven frames in a 5-2 win at Pittsburgh on Monday; it's important to note that Ryu is 10-2 with a 2.68 ERA on five days rest over his two major league seasons. I think Peavy gets chased early and the surging DODGERS find a way to get the job done at the end of the night.
