AAA's GOOD OLD FASHIONED A.L. BUTT WHOOPIN'!
(MLB) NY Yankees vs. Detroit,
Money Line: -118.00 Detroit (Home)
Result: Win
This is an 8* BUTT WHOOPIN on the Detroit Tigers.

The Yanks are coming off a very satisfying make-up game victory in Kansas City yesterday and suffice it to say I think this is a great spot to back the rested home side and feel the value we're getting with this selection is simply too good to pass up. I think New York comes in complacent, it's won five-straight already and it will face a red hot hurler in Rick Porcello (14-8, 3.10 ERA) who would scatter three hits in a 6-0 win over the Rays on Wednesday. Porcello will be hungry here as well, I don't anticipate a letdown whatsoever, he lost in New York 1-0 on August 7th after going seven frames (note that he's 2-1 with a very respectable 2.84 ERA in his last five vs. the Evil Empire). The visitors counters with Brandon McCarthy who is 5-2 with a 1.90 ERA in eight starts since coming over from the Diamondbacks and who is also coming off a complete game, giving up four hits in a 3-0 win over the soft hitting Astros on Thursday. McCarthy has had plenty of success against the Tigers in the past, but as I stated off the top, I think this is a bad spot; note that the Tigers would collect 18 hits in a 13-4 victory at Minnesota on Sunday and their 60 hits in that series overall were their most in a four-game set since all the way back in 1956. And note, those offensive fireworks on Sunday were created without slugger Miguel Cabrera in the lineup who sat out because of a sore ankle. Good news for us, Cabrera has been cleared to play and he's feasted off Yankees pitching throughout his career, hitting .345 with five home runs and 14 RBIs over his last 15 home games vs. them. So when you also finally add in the fact that New York took three of four from Detroit at home earlier this month, I think you'll agree we are indeed getting fantastic line value in this one; play on the TIGERS.
