A couple of proficient offenses go head to head in this battle between 1-1 and division foes, but when the smoke does finally clear at the end of this one, I'm expecting the total to sneak below the posted number. Green Bay was shut down in a 36-16 loss at Seattle in its opener, and looked like it could be in trouble last week before storming back to beat the Jets 31-24 (the Pack trailed 21-3 in the second quarter). Detroit would beat New York 35-14 in its opener before then stumbling 24-7 at Carolina last weekend. There's no question that Detroit will be looking to establish its run game, something that was supposed to be one of its strengths this year, as it is averaging just 3.0 yards per carry. A date vs. Green Bay is just what the doctor ordered to get that part of their offense untracked as the Packers give up an average of 176.5 rushing yards so far, which ranks 31st in the NFL. That said, it wasn't all doom and gloom for Green Bay's defensive unit last week, as it would allow just three points and 100 yards after halftime, led by AJ Hawk who had 10 tackles. Detroit QB Matt Stafford already has 637 yards and three TD's this year, but has always struggled against Green Bay, he's just 1-6 to go along with 13 TD's and 14 INT's. Note that Green Bay has seen the total go UNDER the number in eight of its last 13 vs. division rivals, while Detroit has seen it dip below the posted number in seven of 12 in the same position. I think that the situation, the numbers and the trends all point to the UNDER as the sharp wager in this contest.
