Total: 6.50 | -105.00 Over
Result: Win
This is a 10* TOTAL ASSASSIN on the UNDER betweent the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Indians.
When these clubs faced each other earlier in the year, two of their three games went OVER the posted number. Both teams are coming off some pretty high-scoring affairs of late as well, however I believe the conditions are finally right for a lower-scoring pitchers duel in this one. The home side still has slim playoff hopes but must win out this series, plus get some extra help and has to be liking it chances tonight in sending ace Corey Kluber (17-9, 2.53 ERA) to the hill; Kluber has posted 14 K's in back to back outings and owns a minuscule 1.39 ERA in winning his last four starts. Note that Kluber struck out nine while giving up two runs over 6 2/3's frames in a 6-3 win over Tampa on May 9th. Tampa Bay is eliminated from contention and has dropped five of seven after yesterday's 11-1 loss to Boston. Chris Archer (10-8, 3.42 ERA) has been a bright spot of late, he's 2-0 with a 1.83 ERA over his last three starts, most recently giving up two hits over 6 1/3's scoreless innings in his team's 3-1 win over the White Sox on Saturday. Note that Tampa Bay has seen the total go UNDER the number in eight of 12 this year on the road when the total is seven or less, while Cleveland has seen it dip below the posted number in 23 of its last 32 vs. teams with losing records. The situation, the numbers and the trends all indeed point to the UNDER as the sharp wager in this contest.
