This is an 8* SCORPION on the UNDER between the Washington Wizards and the Toronto Raptors.
When the smoke clears at the end of this one, I expect this total to sneak below the posted number. Both teams made the playoffs for the first time in five years last season and each has jumped out to a strong start to the 2014/15 campaign. The Raptors are 4-1 to start the season, most recently holding on for dear life in a 110-107 victory over Boston on Wednesday. There is some room to read between the lines though, note that Toronto would get the win despite being outrebounded by a whopping 55-24; also note that the Raptors had to rally after falling behind by 16 in the first quarter. Washington would drop a 107-95 season-opening game to Miami but has since gone on to hold its last four opponents to an average of just 93 points, most recently escaping with a 96-94 OT win over Indiana on Wednesday. And just like the Raptors, there's some room to read between the lines for the Wizards as well as they shot just 37.4 percent in that victory. I think today's play becomes even stronger when taking into account the last game these teams played against each other, a marathon triple OT affair which the Wizards would eventually win 134-129. Putting up similar numbers this year will prove to be much more difficult for the visitors though, note that the Raptors are 2-0 at home, allowing an average of just 95 PPG, comapred to 103 on the road. In my opinion, all signs point to the UNDER as the savvy move here.
