The Coach's NCAAB Thursday Trifecta
(NCAAB) Oregon State vs. Stanford,
Point Spread: -8.00 | -110.00 Stanford (Home)
Result: Win
Point Spread: -8.00 | -110.00 Stanford (Home)
Result: Win
The Stanford Cardinal will host Pac-12 rivals Oregon State tonight, and I like the home team in this spot. Both these schools have been far better at home than on the road, and the Beavers might struggle to score against a tough Stanford defense. The Cardinal defeated California by a score of 72-61 on Saturday, and I think we can expect a similar result tonight against Oregon State.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Home Cookin' - The Beavers own the second best defense in the conference, but they aren't nearly as effective on the road. In fact the Cardinal are allowing fewer points per game at home that the Beavers do on the road. Oregon State has really had trouble scoring on the road, averaging just 53.8 points per game.
2. Previous History - Stanford has won four of the last five head to head meetings with Oregon State, and they covered the spread in three of those four victories. Oregon State is just 3-8 ATS in it's last 11 road games.
3. X-Factor - Three point shooting should be a huge advantage for Stanford, averaging 39.9%, over 8 percentage points higher than the Beavers.
Selection: This is a play on the Stanford Cardinal (*8)
