Two of the bottom feeders in the American Athletic Conference will meet on Thursday when the Tulane Green Wave take on the Houston Cougars. Tulane finished two games higher than the Cougars in the conference standings, but Houston won their final three games of the season. One of those was a 68-63 overtime win at Tulane, and I will have to go with the hotter of the two teams in this one.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Previous History - Tulane lost five of it's final six games of the season, with the lone win coming against last place South Florida. It failed to cover in seven of it's last 10 overall, and has only covered in four of it's last 16 games against the Cougars.
2. Hot Shooting - The Cougars come in feeling the hot hand, averaging 63.8 points on 42.3% shooting over their last five games. They also hit 38.1% of their three-point attempts in those contests. Tulane has average just 57.4 points on 37.9% shooting, hitting just 32.1% from beyond the arc during that span.
3. X-Factor - The Green Wave are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 neutral site games.
Selection: This is a play on the Houston Cougars (10*)
