What a game we got on our hands here as the Los Angeles Kings could be the first defending Stanley Cup champs in eight years to miss out on the playoffs. The Calgary Flames certainly wouldn't mind inflict such damage, especially as it at the same time would mean they would clinch a spot in the playoffs for the first time in six years. It's hard to call a winner in this contest, but I would say one thing is for certain; We'll be in for a tough, rough, low-scoring battle at the Saddledome tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Jonathan Quick - The 29 year old got some well deserved rest Tuesday as Martin Jones tended the net in the 4-2 defeat at Edmonton. We can expect Quick to be back between the pipes tonight though, and he's coming in red hot allowing only four goals over three starts so far in April. He's 10-6-4 with a 1.81 GAA and two shutouts versus Calgary lifetime.
2. Trends - The Kings were were involved in a six goal game at Edmonton two days ago but the under is 7-0-4 in their last 11 playing on one day of rest. Combine that with the fact that the under is 5-1 in the Flames last six at home and 8-2-2 over the last 12 match-ups against the Kings in Calgary and you'll see we got the statistics on our side here.
3. X-Factor - The Kings have managed only a pathetic tally of five goals over their last four games away from home.
Selection: This is a play on the LAK@CGY to go under the total
