1* free play on the Texas Rangers RL...
The Texas Rangers lost the series opener at Fenway by a score of 4-3 last night, falling to .500 on the road this season. The Red Sox still own a losing record in Boston, and I think they come in as a bit of an overrated favorite here today. Texas is worth the price getting the runs on the road in this spot.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Rangers will go to their bullpen, handing the ball to 26 year old Phil Klein. He's only made six appearances this season, and his numbers aren't great (0-0, 7.71 ERA). He was roughed up in his first outing, but has since held the opposition to one run over a combined 3.2 innings in his next five appearances. The Red Sox hand the ball to Joe Kelly, who has been just hammered at home in Boston. Kelly (1-2, 5.58 ERA) has been torched for 12 runs on 18 hits over 16.1 innings in three appearances at Fenway this season.
2. Batter vs Pitcher - Shin Soo Choo is 3-for-6 with a home run lifetime versus Kelly.
3. X-Factor - Boston stranded 12 men on base yesterday, and is averaging a major league low 2.5 runs per game in the month of May.
