Money Line: -128.00 NY Yankees (Home)
Result: Loss
The New York Yankees are coming into this game desperate to end a five-game skid and deny the Texas Rangers to sweep them home at Yankee Stadium. They've put up plenty of runs on the board in first two games in the series, and I think they'll finally book a win tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Yankees will hand the ball to Chris Capuano (0-1, 12.00) ERA who'll make his second start of the year. He had been out with a quadriceps strain suffered in spring training before making his season debut in a 6-0 loss at Kansas City one week ago where he conceded four runs on four hits over three innings, but should do better tonight with one start under his belt already. The Rangers will counter with Yovani Gallardo (3-6, 4.26 ERA) who gave up four runs on on a season-high 10 hits over five innings in a 4-3 loss at Fenway his last start. He's 1-4 with a 4.97 ERA over four road-starts for the season as he'll make his first start at Yankee Stadium, but he's conceded four runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings in one career-meeting with the Bronx Bombers.
2. Carlos Beltran and Chase Headley - Beltran is riding a 13-game hitting streak and is batting a respectable .261 with one home-run over 23 at bats aginst Gallardo, but Headley bests him by quite some margin going 7-for-19 with a homer in previous meetings with the 29 year old.
3. X-Factor - The Yankees bullpen ranks among the top-10 in baseball for the year with a 3.12 ERA while the Rangers' ranks among the worst with a 4.62 ERA.
Selection: This is a play on the New York Yankees (8*)
