The Atlanta Braves came into last night's Game 3 a four-game set at AT&T Park as losers of the first two. They bounced back with an emphatic 8-0 victory tagging the Giants pitching staff with 14 hits, and I would not be surprised to see them record another upset today.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Giants will hand the ball to Madison Bumgarner (6-2, 3.00 ERA) with the San Francisco ace coming off one of his weaker outings of the year. He conceded three runs on four hits in six frames while striking out a season-low three batters. He is 4-3 with a 3.00 ERA in eight career outings against Atlanta and has struggled against Jonny Gomes who is 6-for-8 with two homers against Mad Bum. The Braves will counter with Julio Teheran (4-2, 4.91 ERA) who will be looking to redeem himself from an embarrassing display when he conceded eight runs on 10 hits in just 4 1/3 innings in a 8-0 loss at Dodger Stadium. He had allowed just one earned run in each of his last two starts prior, and is a decent 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA in four career starts against San Francisco.
2. Game Raisers - The Braves are 6-0 in their last six versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. As a side note we can add that they're 6-2 in Teheran's last eight starts when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game.
3. X-Factor - Brandon Crawford is coming into this contest swinging a hot bat, going 5-for-12 in the series. Production might be a problem for the 28 year old slugger tonight though as he's just 1-for-11 lifetime against Teheran.
Selection: This is a play on the Atlanta Braves +1.5 (10*)
