Result: Win
The Royals are gunning for a sweep of the Twins in Minnesota tonight, just 24 hours after reclaiming the division lead. History is on the side of Kansas City, as the Royals have won 12 of the last 17 in this series, and six of nine in Minnesota.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Twins hand the ball to Kyle Gibson, who was hit pretty hard in his last outing. Gibson (4-3, 3.00 ERA) gave up five runs on six hits over seven innings in a 10-5 home loss to the Brewers. The Royals counter with Edinson Voilquez, who also lost his last start. Volquez though will be backed up by the #1 ranked bullpen in all of baseball.
2. Alcides Escobar - The Royals shortstop has owned Gibson, going 6-for-14 (.429) with a double and an RBI lifetime versus Gibson.
3. X-Factor - Minnesota's relief pitchers own a 3.70 ERA, which ranks near the bottom of the major leagues.
Selection: This is a play on the Kansas City Royals (10*)
