The New York Yankees split a four game series versus the Astros in Houston, and they will head out west to take on the Angels in Anaheim tonight. The Angels are coming off a win over the Mariners last night, taking two of three at home in that series. I like the Halos at home as a small favorite in tonight's series opener.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - While both starters are coming off very poor performances, I still give the edge to LA as Wilson has been having a far better season statistically. He didn't have his best stuff in a loss to the Yankees in the Bronx earlier this year, but prior to that he had gone 4-0 with a 2.21 ERA in his previous six starts versus New York. Sabathia on the other hand hasn't been fooling hitters at all this season, with an ERA of 5.65 and an opponent's batting average of .308.
2. Mike Trout - The Angels slugger is hitting lefties hard this season, batting .317 against them. He's also hitting .364 with a home run in 11 career at bats versus Sabathia.
3. X-Factor - The Angels are 17-5 in Wilson's last 22 home starts.
