(MLB) Colorado vs. St. Louis,
Money Line: -169.00 St. Louis (Home)
Result: Loss
Money Line: -169.00 St. Louis (Home)
Result: Loss
The Colorado Rockies have been a sorry sight away from home all season and recent games have been no different. They've lost four of their first five on a seven-game road-swing and odds are they'll suffer a third consecutive loss at Busch Stadium tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Rockies hand the ball to Jorge De La Rosa (6-4, 5.03 ERA) who is 0-1 with an 8.59 ERA in his last three starts. He is 6-2 with a 3.51 ERA in his last eight starts against the Cardinals but will find it hard to out-duel Lance Lynn (8-5, 2.71 ERA) tonight. Lynn has shut out the Rockies in two of the previous four meetings while going 2-0 with a minuscule 1.37 ERA. He's been close to unhittable home at Busch Stadium this season going 6-1 with a 1.77 ERA in 10 starts.
2. Home Cookin' - The Cardinals are 39-15 home at Busch Stadium for the year and are 5-0 in Lynn's last five starts as a home favorite of -151 to -200. The Rockies are 1-5 in De La Rosas last six starts as a road underdog in the same span.
3. X-Factor - Matt Carpenter is batting .360 with four doubles and three homers over his last seven games and was 2-for-4 with a walk in last night's 7-0 thumping of the Rockies.
Selection: This is a play on the St. Louis Cardinals (8*)
