The AL Central-worst Cleveland Indians annihilated their division-rivals the Minnesota Twins 17-4 last night to tie this three-game set at 1-1. I like the Twins chances of recording an upset and bounce back with a win this afternoon.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Tribe hand the ball to Corey Kluber (6-12, 3.60 ERA) who's coming off one of his worst outings of the year when he was tagged for five runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 5-4 loss at Anaheim. He's 2-5 with a 3.84 ERA in nine day-outings for the year and the Indians are 3-8 in his last 11 starts with five days of rest. The Twins will counter with Phil Hughes (10-7, 4.14 ERA) and the they've won eight of his last 10 starts. They've lost both of his last starts away from home but to no fault of Hughes who's conceded just four runs on 11 hits over 12 2/3 innings of work in that span.
2. Situational - The Indians have lost eight of their last 10 as a home favorite and nine of their last 11 games home at Progressive Field overall. The Twins are 6-2 in Hughes' last 8 starts as an underdog.
3. X-Factor - The Twins will be desperate to get back on track sitting just 3.5 games back of the Halos for the last Wild Card in the AL while the Tribes' season is all but over already.
Selection: This is a play on the Minnesota Twins +1.5 (8*)
