The fact that we find the Edmonton Oilers at the bottom of the Pacific Division will hardly come as a surprise to anyone. That we find the Ducks only two steps and three points above them though is quite remarkable, and just when you think the Ducks have turned a corner they come up short once again. Points are vital for both teams here, and I think we'll see a tight low-scoring game at Honda Center.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. The Oilers Without Connor McDavid - The 2015 overall No. 1 draft pick has already established himself as the Oilers main man with five goals and seven assists here in his debut season. He suffered a broken clavicle last Tuesday though, and Edmonton has mustered only three goals over two games since.
2. The Ducks' Scoring Woes - Anaheim is the worst offensive team in the league averaging just 1.7 goals per game, and its third worst in the NHL in converting on power play opportunities with just a 13.0% success rate.
3. X-Factor - The total have gone under in five of the last seven head-to-head meetings at the Duck Pond.
