At 10:00pm ET, my Western Conf. Game Of the Month is on the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers will be anxious to start the season by getting a victory for their new coach. They've got a lot of new faces though and they are up against a very difficult opponent. We saw the Timberwolves have a breakthrough season. They're loaded and they're going to be really tough to beat again this year. Towns has moved on but they were excellent without him. DiVincenzo is an excellent addition and an underrated player. Randle, when healthy, is still absolutely a big-time talent. Minnesota has a significant defensive edge. The Wolves allowed 106.5 points per game last season and the Lakers allowed 117.4. At important times in the game, when it really matters, the Wolves have a very flexible lineup which give them many options. If they need a defensive stop, they bring out DiVincenzo, Edwards, McDaniels, Randle and Gobert. If they need a bucket, they likely elect to go with Conley, Edwards, DiVincenzo, Randle and Reid. When they really need a 3-pointer, Conley, Edwards, DiVincenzo, Ingles and Reid is a great choice. Reddick and the Lakers will have to wait. The Wolves, 6-3 the last 9 meetings, will be too much for them again on Tuesday.
