The Vancouver Canucks will take on the Washington Capitals at Rogers Arena tonight for their third home game of the season. They have dominated the Capitals in recent seasons winning nine of the last 11 meetings and I predict the the home team to come out of this contest as winners as well.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Goal production - The Caps have won two of their last three games, despite averaging only two goals per game with Alexander Ovechkin unable to register a single point. The Canucks on the other hand may have lost two of their last three, but they were all on the road and they still managed to score 10 goals. Ryan Miller is expected to be back between the pipes for this game after being rested against the Avs and will give the Canucks a better shot at the W.
2. Fatigue - The Caps are playing their third consecutive road game and second game in as many nights. They won in Calgary last night, and Braden Holty stopped 21-of-22 shots. The Canucks could get a crack at Washington's backup goalie Justin Peters tonight.
3. X-factor - The Canucks have won all of the last five meetings in Vancouver.
Selection: This is a play on the Vancouver Canucks (10*)
