A four-game split with the Royals is not what the White Sox envisioned for this weekend. But it’s the best they can do now after losing 5-1 Saturday. The White Sox came into this series riding high on a seven-game win streak while Kansas City had lost 11 in a row before arriving at Guaranteed Rate Field. So the results of the last few days have definitely been surprising. But this one seems pretty simple as Chicago hands the baseball to Dylan Cease. While he has five no-decisions, Cease is unbeaten in seven starts with a 2.80 ERA. He’s been particularly filthy of late with a 1.50 ERA and 0.78 WHIP his last three starts. In that three start stretch, Cease has averaged six innings of work and allowed only three runs on nine hits with 27 strikeouts. He’s yet to allow more than three runs in any start this season. Opposing him will be Brady Singer, whose last three starts have not gone well. The Royals lost all of them as Singer has a 6.55 ERA and 1.818 WHIP. We like the fact the White Sox are 13-3 off loss in 2021 and that they’ve outscored the opponents 29-3 in Cease’s last three starts. Play on CHICAGO
