This is a 5* BIG-CHALK CHOKE-OUT on the Oakland Athletics.
The clear talent discrepancy on the mound tonight absolutely justifies in laying this larger price. The visitors send Scott Kazmir (11-3, 2.32 ERA) to the hill; Kazmir will look to lead his team to an eighth win out of its last nine away from friendly confines. Kazmir owns the league's fourth-best ERA and has limited his opposition to one earned run or fewer while going at least seven frames in three straight outings; note that the southpaw is a near perfect 6-1 with a very respectable 2.09 ERA with 69 K's over his last ten overall (and note that Kazmir is 7-4 with a 3.22 ERA in 15 career starts vs. the Rangers). And that's bad news for Texas which has dropped 28 of 34, totaling just nine runs while hitting a meager .233 over its last five overall. The home side sends Miles Mikolas (1-2, 7.48 ERA) to the hill; Mikolas gave up two runs and four hits over 7 1/3's innings in his team's 4-2 road win over the Yanks on Monday. The book is still out on Mikolas though obviously, note that he was 0-2 with a deplorable 10.05 ERA over his previous three starts. And note that the Rangers' rookie has given up a ghastly 14 runs and 21 hits over nine total innings in dropping his two starts in front of the home town crowd. Sometimes a favorite is a favorite for a reason, and in this mismatch, I definitely feel that Kazmir and the A's should be even bigger ones; play on OAKLAND.
