This is a 6* BIG-CHALK CHOKE-OUT on the Kansas City Royals.

The Royals have a big opportunity to make up some ground in the AL Central with a visit from the last place Twins and I look for the home side to make the most of this favorable pitching matchup and to find a way to get the job done at the end of the night. The Royals had won five in a row before falling 10-3 to Cleveland on Sunday but have to be liking their chances with Minnesota in town as it's lost ten of its last 13 at Kauffman Stadium. One player to keep your eyes on today is Royals' slugger Billy Butler who is batting a whopping .444 with eight extra-base hits and 11 RBIs during his last 17 home games in this series. Kansas City sends ace James Shields (9-5, 3.58 ERA) to the hill, the hard-throwing right-hander went seven frames in his team's 2-1 win over the White Sox on Wednesday. Last place Minnesota comes in deflated after dropping three of four to the White Sox over the weekend, salvaging the 4-3 win on Sunday in the finale. The visitors turn to Kyle Gibson (8-8, 4.19 ERA) who returns after suffering from a lower back issue which has kept him out of the rotation since July 18th; in his last start Gibson was pretty unremarkable in giving up six runs over 6 1/3's innings in a 6-2 loss to Tampa Bay (and note that Gibson owns a pedestrian 4.97 ERA on the road this year). Shields obviously gets the big nod on the bump today, I'll give the slight nod to the Royals at the plate, I don't foresee a lapse in concentration for the home side, this is a price I don't have a problem in laying; play on KANSAS CITY.
