A couple of under the radar pitchers face off in the opener of this three game set, when the smoke does finally clear at the end of this one, I look for the total to sneak below the posted number. Boston returns home after a 5-3 road trip, including winning its final three and yesterday's 5-4 effort in Cincinnati. The Astros on the other hand come to Bean Town having lost five straight away from friendly confines. That's music to Boston starter Allen Webster's (2-1, 4.91 ERA) ears, who gave up two runs and four hits over 6 2/3's innings in his team's 4-2 win over the hard-hitting Angels on Friday: "My fastball command was the biggest difference between starts," Webster said afterwards. "I just started going after batters. After every pitch, I just told myself to keep going after batters and trust my stuff and let my defense work." Houston counters with Scott Feldman who is 2-0 with a tiny 2.01 ERA over his last three starts, most recently giving up three runs over 6 1/3's innings in his team's 8-3 win over the Rangers on Saturday. Feldman has had his hands full with the Red Sox in the past, but comes into this contest on top form, I think the writing is on the wall and expect these capable starters to battle into the latter frames and for this total to sneak UNDER the posted number.
