Result: Win
This is an 8* play on the UNDER between the Houston Rockets and the LA Lakers.

I jumped on this line right away and got 214.5, it's dropped significantly since, but regardless, still really like this play and expect this total to sneak below the posted number once the final buzzer sounds. I think Houston has a legitimate shot at contending for a NBA finals spot this year. While most think the Lakers will be horrible again this season, I don't think they'll be nearly as bad as there were last year. There are many different story lines tonight and all eyes will be on this late night game, suffice it to say I think each team comes out a bit flat and tenative, giving us the edge we need to cash this under. The Western Conference race is going to be a tight one again this year, Houston's ultimate goal will be to finish with home court in the first round, my calculations have them closing the 2014/15 regular season at 52-30. It's a well known fact that the best defensive teams in the league feature a trio of top defenders (the Grizzlies have Tony Allen, Marc Gasol and Michael Conley; the Pacers have Lance Stephenson, Roy Hibbert and Paul George, while the Bulls have Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler). Houston now fits the bill with the addtion of Trevor Ariza who joins big man Dwight Howard and Patrick Beverley. The Lakers added former Rocket Jeremy Lin and ex Bull Carlos Boozer. Along with a fully healthy Kobe Bryant, I think LA comes out with a defensive mind set tonight, something that Bryant has already confirmed: "We've got to really tighten up defensively, which is a different style than we're used to playing," Bryant assessed earlier in the week. "But it's a fun style. You've just got to be more aggressive, get down in the passing lanes and take more chances." New Lakers coach Byron Scott has also said he wants to slow down the offense and not take so many 3's: "We're going to be smash-mouth basketball," Scott said. "That's just how we're going to play. We're a grind-it-out team." In my opinion, all signs point to the UNDER as the savvy move in this one.
