This is an 8* BLOWOUT on Toledo.
As we can tell by this point spread, the oddsmakers believe that these teams are pretty evenly matched, but for a number of different reasons I feel that Toledo holds enough significant advantages to pull the trigger. Arkansas State finished 7-5 and is making its fourth straight appearance in the GoDaddy Bowl by setting a Sun Belt Conference record 764 yards in a 68-35 rout of New Mexico State in the season finale on November 29th. The RedWolves would finish 20th in the FBS in averaging 36.1 points per game, but note that as good as they were on the offensive side of the ball, is as horrible as they were on the defensive, yielding an average of 35 points over its final six games. And that has to be music to Toledo RB Kareem Hunt's ears, who ranked third in the country with an average of 151.1 rushing yards and fifth at 7.9 per carry while running for 11 major scores in nine games. With Hunt leading the way, the Rockets average 34.4 points. And note, Toledo's defense gave up more than 20 points just once to help the team win three of its last four. The bottom line is, I believe that the overall balance that TOLEDO brings to the table will ultimately prove to be the difference in this one.
