This is an 8* TOP TOTAL on the OVER between the LA Clippers and the Portland Trailblazers.
For a number of different reasons I look for this total to eclipse the posted number as the game comes down the stretch. Portland is rolling right now and is seeking a fifth consecutive victory. LA has lost five straight on the road. Both teams will be highly motivated today and I believe that will translate into a faster game. A quicker game = more shots and more shots = more points. The Blazers most recently pulled away for a 106-94 victory over the Lakers on Sunday and are now a season-best 22 games over the .500 mark. As good as Portland's defense has been of late, its offense has been even better, the team ranks near the top of the NBA in averaging 103.8 points per game. Note that the Blazers play with revenge here as well after falling 106-102 in LA back on November 8th. But as mentioned off the top, the Clippers will surely be hungy here, especially after losing 104-90 vs. Miami on Sunday. From a trend based stand point, this play is about as strong as you could possibly ask for, note that LA has seen the total go OVER the number in ten of 14 road games this year, while Portland has seen it sail above the posted number in 20 of its last 33 when playing with two days of rest. In my opinion, the situation, the numbers and the trends do all indeed point to the OVER as the savvy move in this one.
