This is an 8* O/U COAST-TO-COAST EXPRESS on the UNDER between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Anaheim Ducks.
For a number of different reasons I expect this total to stay below the posted number once the final horn blares. Anaheim has won 11 of its last 15 in front of the home town crowd but has lost six-straight to the Maple Leafs. The Ducks most recently prevailed 5-4 over Winnipeg on Sunday. When these teams played together in Toronto on December 16th, the Leafs would pull away for a 6-2 victory, but Toronto is now mired in a 3-9-0 run since that contest. The Leafs are close to breaking through with a win though, certainly defensively they've been a lot better of late, holding opponents to just 22 shots average over the last three games. This is as good as an opponent as any for Toronto goaltender Jonathan Bernier to bounce back against as well as he's 5-0-1 with a 1.65 GAA in six starts vs. Anaheim. The home side will likely turn to Ilya Bryzgalov who is 5-2-0 with a 2.31 GAA in seven starts vs. the Buds. Note that Toronto has seen the total go UNDER the number in eight of 15 non-conference games this year while Anaheim has seen it dip below the posted number in nine of its last 11 when playing with two days of rest. In my opinion, the situation, the numbers and the trends do all indeed point to the UNDER as the sharp move in this matchup.
