This is a 10* O/U WEST-COAST EXPRESS on the OVER between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Utah Jazz.
While neither team has been playing to many high-scoring affairs of late, I feel that the conditions are finally right for a shoot-out and expect this total to eclipse the posted number as the game comes down the stretch. This is a big game for the Grizzlies, who are clinging to the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference and it goes without saying that getting the opener of a three-game road trip started off on the "right foot" will be paramount for the their positioning; suffice it to say, I expect this focus and determination to translate into production on the court for the visitors: "We're just trying to win every game. The things will shake out how they're supposed to," Memphis point guard Mike Conley said last night. "We're just going to play for each individual game and see what happens. ... We know where we're at. It's no secret, but we're really just worried about us." Memphis has some big games on the horizon, but can obviously ill afford to look past the Jazz who have won five of six and lead this season series 2-1. The Grizz have to be feeling pretty confident though after a 3-1 homestand which was capped off with a 110-74 rout of the Hornets on Wednesday. Utah though won't be rolling over obviously, it's most recently coming off an impressive 103-91 win over the Kings on Wednesday, its third straight win in front of the home town crowd. Note that the Grizzlies have seen the total go OVER the number in all five games they've played this year in revenging a home loss vs. an opponent, while Utah has seen it sail above the posted number in ten of its last 14 as a home dog of three points or less. In my opinion, all signs do indeed point to the OVER as the savvy move in this contest.
