The oddsmakers think this is going to be a pretty evenly matched contest, but I don't. The Mets return home after yesterday's 2-0 win in Milwaukee, a victory which snapped a seven-game skid. I'm not going to read too much into that effort though, clearly New York is struggling right now, averaging 1.8 runs and batting .186 in that span. The home side sends Noah Syndergaard (2-4, 4.03 ERA) to the hill, who is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in four June starts, most recently giving up four runs and six hits over four innings in his team's 6-4 loss in Atlanta on Saturday. The Reds come to town off a 5-4, 13 inning victory at Pittsburgh on Thursday, securing their first win in seven road series. Cincinnati has now won six of its last eight overall with a lineup that is batting .302 collectively. The visitors turn to Johnny Cueto who has been better at home that on the road this season, but who comes in plenty rested with his last start on June 17th, an 8-4 home win over the Tigers, giving up three runs and three hits over 5 1/3's innings without factoring into the decision. I'm going to call the starters a "wash" here, but give the slight nod to the REDS at the plate and that's going to be just enough to tip the scales in our favor in this one.
