A couple of confirmed "gas cans" face off on Wednesday night and suffice it to say, when the smoke clears at the end of this one, we think the total will eclipse the posted number. The visitors hand the ball to Kyle Lohse (4-9, 6.28 ERA) who got a victory over the Twins on Friday despite giving up four runs off six hits over six innings. It was Lohse's first victory since mid May and unfortunately for him, this is not a position in which he's done very well in this year, posting a poor 1-4, 4.37 ERA on the road and a 3-4, 5.22 ERA in all "night" games to date. The home side counters with Aaron Harang (4-10, 3.56 ERA) who was shelled for five runs over six innings in a 5-2 setback to the Nationals on Friday. The "Harang-a-tang" has now given up four or more earned runs in each of his last five starts this month (and note that Harang is 2-6 with a 4.00 ERA in all "night" contests this season). Recent performance always plays a part in my MLB handicapping process and with each starter clearly struggling with consistency right now, the OVER is absolutely worthy of a second look in this one.
