Result: Loss
This is an 8* play on Florida Atlantic.

FAU is expecting a record 30,000 fans on Friday, obviously that's what happens when one of Florida's name brand program comes to town. And it's obviously a big opportunity for FAU and its players to make some national headlines. Clearly the Canes are looking to steamroll the Owls as they have better all-around talent, most specifically in the offensive backfield, but that said, we think the backdoor will be left open wide enough for the home side to sneak through. FAU's defense was lit up by Tulsa last week, which means that Miami's young QB Brad Kaaya and RB's Mark Walton, Joseph Yearby and Trayvone Gray should meet little resistance. Can anyone say letdown spot though? This does indeed set up as a bit of a mental letdown spot for Miami, which blanked Bethune-Cookman in Week 1; back-to-back "cream-puffs" invariably leads to a small mental lapse in intensity. And note that the Owls did actually find an attack in the loss to Tulsa, racking up 563 yards behind the running of Greg Howell and dual-threat QB Jaquez Johnson. Miami is lacking in the "star" department on the defensive side of the ball this year, which means the home side will have some opportunities to put some points on the board. Also note, FAU has some playmakers on defense, one player to keep your eyes on is DT Trevon Coley, who sacked Tulsa QB Dane Evans three times, suffice it to say we feel that Miami's front wall which is in transition will have its hands full today. Ultimately we feel that the Owls have enough weapons and situational factors working in their favor to keep this one a lot closer than what the oddsmakers are leading us to believe and while we'll stop short of calling for the outright upset, all signs do indeed point to FLORIDA ATLANTIC as the savvy move in this matchup.
