Is Clayton Kershaw that much better than Stephen Strasburg right now? The numbers would say no, that these two guys are in fact very evenly matched. Strasburg has yet to lose this year with ten wins, while also posting 118 K's, tied for third most in the majors, while having conceded just 24 walks and 75 hits in 93 innings of work. Opposing batters are hitting just .220 against him. Kershaw is well on his way to winning a fourth Cy Young Award in his last six years, the southpaw lead the majors with a 1.58 ERA and 133 K's, opponents hitting just .170 off him. Kershaw though is about to face one of the best left-hitting batters in the league in Daniel Murphy, who leads the major with a .358 average and who holds second place with a .995 OPS. Murphy's .595 slugging percentage ranks second in the NL as well. In a contest which we envision being decided late or in extra innings, we're going to lay the price for the extra 1.5 runs of insurance.
