This is an 8* SITUATIONAL SLUGFEST on the OVER between the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros.
A couple of inconsistent starters collide on Friday night and suffice it to say, we're expecting some offensive fireworks once it's all said and done. Martin Perez (7-7, 4.22 ERA) gets the call for the visitors, he's coming off a decent outing vs. the Royals on Saturday, giving up one run over seven innings in the eventual no-decision. We'll caution in reading too much into that effort though as Perez for the most part had a horrible July. He's now winless in his last six starts and note that he's just 1-6 with a 5.95 ERA on the road. The home side counters with Dallas Keuchel (6-11, 4.86) who was shelled for seven runs off seven hits over five innings in a loss to Detroit on Sunday. Home field advantage has been anything but for Keuchel this year and we think he's in line for another tough night vs. this hard-hitting Rangers lineup. Note that Texas has seen the total go OVER the number in 16 of 28 vs. southpaws this year, while Houston has seen the total eclipse the posted number in 8 of 13 as a home fav in the -150 to -175 range.
