This is a 10* EAST-COAST TOTAL EXPRESS on the UNDER between the Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Setting the scene: Both teams come into this one off high-scoring season openers, but we're expecting more of a defensive affair on Saturday night between these Eastern Conference rivals.
Boston: The Bruins hammered the Blue Jackets 6-3 on Thursday. Brad Marchand had five points, including two goals and three assists.
Toronto: Leafs' rookie Auston Matthews became an overnight sensation in his NHL debut, scoring four goals against the Senators, although Toronto would go on to lose 5-4 in OT. Goaltender Frederik Andersen was brought over in a big offseason signing and is ready to redeem himself: "We did a lot of good things, but I know I can be a lot better," Andersen said afterwards.
The bottom line: Note that despite its big Opening Night offensive outburst, Boston has in fact seen the total go UNDER the number in interestingly, 24 of its last 35 games played on Saturday night, while Toronto has seen the total go UNDER in 25 of its last 44 after scoring four goals or more in its previous contest. This one has all the makings of a classic, hard-hitting, grind-it-out affair, play on the UNDER.
