This is a Free #MLB play on the St. Louis #Cardinals.
The first game of the season will feature the Cardinals and the Cubs at Wrigley this Sunday, and the Cubs are coming into this season with lofty expectations. I'm not entirely confident that a few new faces will be able to turn the lovable losers into a contender, and I like St. Louis at this price.
Adam Wainwright will toe the slab for the visitors, and he's coming off a solid spring (0-1, 3.14 ERA). Wainwright has had plenty of success against the Cubs in his career, as the Cardinals have won seven of the last eight when he starts versus Chicago.
The Cubs hand the ball to Jon Lester, who failed to impress in spring training. Lester has been bothered by a sore shoulder, and he only tossed 8 1/3 innings posting a record of 0-1 with a 6.48 ERA.
Jason Heyward has a pair of doubles and a home, hitting .444 in nine career at bats versus Lester, and the Cardinals lineup has hit .311 in a combined 74 at bats versus the southpaw.
