This is an 8* play on the Oakland A's.

The Oakland A's will open the season with a four game set against A.L. West rival the Texas Rangers. Texas finished last in the A.L last season, and I think they'll be in for a rough start to the new one as well facing Sonny Gray on Opening Day.

Gray (14-10, 3.08 ERA) recorded four wins and two losses behind a 2.06 ERA over six starts against the Rangers last season. The Rangers line-up is batting a combined .200 over 125 at bats against the right-hander who will make his second straight opening day start for the A's and was 4-1 with a 2.06 ERA in April last year.

The Rangers will hand the ball to Yovani Gallardo who will toss the ball for a club other than the Brewers in the MLB for the first time today. Gallardo (8-11, 3.51 ERA) made five straight opening starts as a Brewer but might struggle under the light's tonight as he did for most of last year. The 29 year old was 3-9 with a 3.97 ERA in 22 night starts over which he surrendered 17 homers.

The hosts are starting the season with Coco Crisp and Josh Reddick on the DL, but A's have a deep line-up this season as Ben Zobrist, Brett Lawrie, Marcus Semien and Billy Butler all have joined the team in the off-season.

Take OAK.
