The Tigers are red hot to start the season, coming into today's game in Pittsburgh with a perfect 6-0 record. Now they are going to lose eventually, but this doesn't look like a good spot to bet against them.
Gerrit Cole will toe the slab for the Pirates, looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2015 debut. Cole allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings in a loss at Cincinnati. He didn't look particularly good this spring, and he could be in for a rough ride against the highest scoring team in the majors so far.
The Tigers hand the ball to Anibal Sanchez, who pitched well in his debut. The right-hander tosses six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out six in a win over the Twins. He was 4-0 with a 3.25 ERA in eight starts on the road last year, and he was also 4-1 through seven starts in afternoon games.
It's hard to figure out why Detroit isn't a favorite in this game, and I gotta take a stab at the Tigers at this price.
