The Padres spent plenty of money this off-season, and so far they look to be a vastly improved ball club. After taking three of four in a home series with the Giants, they've split the first two games against Arizona. I like the Padres in the rubber match tonight.
Brandon Morrow will toe the slab for the home team, and he was quite sharp in his debut. The 30 year old tossed seven scoreless innings, surrendering three hits and striking out seven in a 1-0 win over the Giants. There is no questioning Morrow's talent if he can stay healthy, but that's something he hasn't been able to do consistently during his career. He looked pretty healthy against the Giants though, so we can likely expect another good showing tonight.
The D'Backs hand the ball to Chase Anderson, who got roughed up in his debut. Anderson allowed three runs on five hits and three walks in five innings in a no decision versus the Dodgers.
The Padres looked good last night, and with more pop in the lineup and one of the best bullpens in the majors, these are the games they should be winning this season.
