Schule's MLB AFTERNOON EXECUTIONER - **EARLY START**
(MLB) Chi White Sox vs. Detroit, 04/17/2015 9:08 AM, Score: 1 - 2
Money Line: -160.00 Detroit (Home)
Result: Win
This is an 8* play on the Detroit Tigers.

Detroit sits first in the AL Central with an 8-1 record, and they host the 3-5 Chicago White Sox in a matinee at Comerica Park. The home team is a heavy favorite, but with a favorable matchup on the mound I think it's worth the price to back Detroit.

David Price will toe the slab for the Tigers, and he didn't factor in the decision in a win at Cleveland in his last start. Price (1-0, 0.00 ERA) allowed three runs (all unearned) on four hits over 5 2/3 innings in a 9-6 win over the Tribe. He's 3-1 with a 3.58 ERA in five starts versus Chicago since 2012.

The White Sox will hand the ball to Jeff Samardzija, who's been a bust so far after signing a big contract in the off-season. The southpaw has been lit up for nine runs on 14 hits over 13 innings in two starts this season. He only won seven games in 2014, and five of those seven wins came at home. He was 2-7 with a 3.38 ERA on the road.

Samardzija was very effective in the NL with the Cubs last year, but his move to the American League has been a disaster. He didn't look good in Oakland, and he's off to a terrible start with Chicago,

Take DET.
