This is an 8* play on the New York Mets.

The New York Mets are sitting top of the NL East despite coming off back-to-back losses to the Rays. They had won seven straight prior and odds are they'll get back on track again here in the opener of a four-game set against the Colorado Rockies.

Jonathon Niese (6-9, 3.51 ERA) will toe the slab for the Mets coming off consecutive quality starts surrendering only a pair of runs on 10 hits over 13 innings and he has now logged his 10 quality starts in his last 11 outings. He was 1-3 with a 5.65 ERA in his first six starts against the Rockies before holding them to one run in 6 2/3 innings last season.

The Rockies hand the ball to Jon Gray (0-0, 4.50 ERA) as the 23 year old will make his second appearance in the majors ever. He gave up three runs, two earned on five hits and two walks in four innings in his first start. The Rockies can hardly count on him to go deep and then they'll have to rely on a bullpen that ranks second worst in baseball for the year with a 4.49 ERA. The Mets' relievers meanwhile is among the better in baseball with a 3.01 mark.

The Mets acquired Yoenis Cespedes from the Tigers at the trade deadline and he's delivered the goods going 11-for-34 since joining the club.

Take NYM.
